Job Title: Head Coach – Miramichi Junior A Hockey Club
Location: Miramichi, NB
Job Type: Full-time – 35 weeks

Job Summary: We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head Coach to lead our Junior A Hockey Team. The Head Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic training programs, fostering player development, and leading the team to success both on and off the ice. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of the game of hockey.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Player Development:
• Design and implement comprehensive player development plans tailored to individual and team needs.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to players to help them improve their skills, game knowledge, and overall performance.
• Conduct regular player evaluations and provide constructive feedback to facilitate growth.
2. Team Strategy and Tactics:
• Develop effective game strategies and tactics to maximize team performance and achieve competitive success.
• Plan and lead team practices focusing on skill development, conditioning, and tactical execution.
• Analyze game footage to identify areas for improvement and adjust strategies accordingly.
3. Leadership and Motivation:
• Foster a positive team culture built on respect, accountability, and teamwork.
• Lead by example both on and off the ice, demonstrating professionalism, dedication, and a strong work ethic.
• Motivate and inspire players to give their best effort and strive for excellence in every aspect of their game.
4. Communication and Collaboration:
• Communicate effectively with players, coaching staff, management, and parents to ensure alignment and transparency.
• Collaborate with assistant coaches and support staff to coordinate training programs, scheduling, and other team activities.
• Serve as a liaison between players and management, addressing any concerns or issues in a timely and professional manner.
5. Player Recruitment and Development:
• Assist in the recruitment and selection of talented players who fit the team’s culture and competitive goals.
• Work closely with scouting personnel to identify and evaluate potential prospects for the team.
• Actively engage with players and their families to support their development and transition to higher levels of hockey.
6. Community involvement / Development Camps
• Foster a healthy relationship with the community ensuring players are involved in community events
• Collaborate with players pre-season to host our annual hockey training camp for the youth in our community
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of coaching, playing or teaching experience at the junior or collegiate level.
• Proven track record of success in player development, team leadership, and competitive achievement.
• Strong knowledge of hockey strategy, tactics, and player development principles.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire players to achieve their full potential.
• Valid coaching certifications and credentials (HC – High Performance 1).
